Silk Chiffon Scarf

Hand-Painted in Northern California and Printed in Lake Como, Italy.

I painted a series of designs with my daughter, and this print is one of them. She pushed me completely out of my comfort zone and allowed me to produce new designs unlike any of my previous collections. I have always wanted to design a true orange and white scarf. The design is of oak tree branches and all of their irregularities. The orange and white gave the branches so much life, it was a perfect pairing. In my hometown, I was taught that the Pomo Native Americans deliberately interrupted their basket weaving pattern, calling it a "spirit door". My daughter in this branches design added some blue to what was otherwise an all white and orange design. It reminded me of this lesson I learned as a child that nothing is perfect. If you look closely you will find the blue bits.
