Burnout White Tee
Inspired by the fashion legend and NBA super fan James Goldstein. Famous for his unique fashion forward style straight off the Paris and Milan runways and often times custom made for him. He travels to a number of different countries each season for fashion weeks, notably Paris and Milan. He also attends approximately 95% of home games for the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers and travels from city to city during the playoffs.
Besides his presence in fashion and the NBA, his home in Beverly Hills, also known as the Sheats Goldstein Residence, was built by world famous architect John Lautner and is in and of itself one of the most spectacular homes ever built. Featured in Architectural Digest, Town & Country, and many other publications, his home is used regularly for photoshoots as well as films.
Ashley has had the pleasure of knowing James since she was 19 years old. While studying abroad at Parsons Paris, Ashley was living in the 6eme arrondissement. She would often go to the hotel across the street to request a taxi since at the time she didn't speak a word of French. One very rainy night with not a taxi in sight, Ashley saw this familiar face whom she had seen at fashion shows getting in a taxi in front of the hotel, and she presumed he was going to the same place, a fashion show. She knocked on the taxi window, the driver rolled down the window and she asked the gentlemen sitting in the back are you by any chance going to the same show? He responded that yes as a matter of fact he was. She asked if she could share the taxi since it was raining and anyone who knows Paris knows how few taxies there are even when it is sunny. From that day forward they have been friends and that was the night that Ashley decided to dive head first into the fashion world and knew that this was what she wanted to do. The next evening he invited her to Tom Ford's first show for YSL and he introduced her to Tom Ford after the show. It was one of those star struck moments for Ashley where she was beside herself and couldn't believe all of these magical fashion moments she was experiencing. Years later Jim asked Ashley if she would custom make a scarf for a New Years party to go with a custom tuxedo he had made in Paris. This was not just an ordinary tuxedo. It was embroidered and embellished with all sorts of detailing. Ashley so much enjoyed making that scarf that in part he inspired her whole business. To this day, she custom makes all of his silk scarves that he wears with each of his outfits. They are all one of a kind pieces that go with the designs and colors of each ensemble.
Ashley designs and manufactures the Crocodile Dandy t-shirt collection with James Goldstein. He is a fascinating person who is highly intelligent and enjoys life to its fullest by doing the things he loves most. He is admired and envied by many and is unlike anyone you have ever met. If you haven't yet run into James, if you ever do, don't miss the opportunity to meet him. He is, according to Ashley and many others, the last living Dandy, hence the inspiration for the name of the t-shirt line Crocodile Dandy.
